Seven martial artists students from Navarro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School clinched six silver medals, a bronze, and a gold at the NewBreed Jiu-Jitsu Federation ‘Worlds’ tournament.
On August 11, 2023, these students embarked to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, showcasing their skills the following day at the tournament. This competition is a precursor to the prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Worlds by IBJJF set to unfold in Las Vegas in September.
The contest welcomed participants for both Gi (with uniform) and No-Gi (street clothing) categories.
Representing our local turf were Josue Moya, Isabella Delacruz, Tabitha Molledo, Dylan Hartamann, Lara Galeano, Penelope Provenzale, and Leila Berlin. This stellar team amassed 5 silver medals, 1 bronze, and 2 gold.
Josue Moya clinched silver and bronze in No-Gi and Gi categories, respectively.
First-timers at the tournament, Isabella Delacruz and Penelope Provenzale, both 11, showcased exemplary skills. Isabella had to go up in categories due to a lack of competitors in her class. They both came back with Silver in their categories.
Meanwhile, Tabitha Molledo and Lara Galeano were honored with silver in the Gi category. Five-year-old Dylan Hartamann and Leila Berline stood out, seizing gold in their respective Gi divisions.
These talented individuals and a few of their peers are now setting their sights on upcoming tournaments to round off the year.
